Ingredients

  • 1 pound (450 g) lean ground hamburger meat
  • 3–4 cups mashed potatoes
  • 12 oz (341 ml or 1 can) creamed corn
  • Salt, pepper, and butter to taste
  • 1–2 cups shredded Cheddar or Mexican blend cheese (optional, amount depends on how much cheese you want)

Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C)
  2. In a large skillet, brown the hamburger meat until it is no longer pink
  3. In a medium baking pan, evenly layer the meat on the bottom, then corn. Spread a layer of potatoes.
  4. If using, sprinkle cheese on top.
  5. Bake in the oven for about 30 minutes, or until the cheese is melted.

Notes

Possible toppings include paprika, parsley, ketchup or green tomato chow-chow (ketchup vert).

Other variations include frying the meat with a diced onion, as well as using an equal combination of creamed corn and regular corn.

Always follow safe handling guidelines when using raw meat.
