Ingredients

Scale
  • About five Australian-style thin sausages ("snags") per person (thick sausages on special occasions)
  • Loaves of sliced sandwich bread (enough for one slice per sausage)
  • Australian tomato sauce (ketchup)
  • Sliced onions, with a little oil or butter (optional)

Directions

  1. Grill the sausages (eucalyptus wood fire is best) until the skins are partially black.
  2. Grill the sliced onions, if desired.
  3. Wrap each sausage in a slice of bread, running the sausage diagonally along the bread.
  4. Add grilled onions and tomato sauce to taste.
