Mazorca Desgranada (Colombian Beef Salad)

Ingredients

Scale
  • ½ pound (250 g) beef loin steak, cut into thin strips
  • Tartar sauce
  • Ground allspice
  • Ground pepper
  • Salt
  • Worcestershire sauce
  • ½ small "Summer Crisp" (Batavian) lettuce, thinly sliced
  • ¼ pound (125 g) shredded costeño or Monterey Jack cheese
  • 1 can (15oz/425 g) whole kernel corn
  • Crushed potato chips (crisps)

Directions

  1. Fry beef in a medium skillet. Season with allspice, pepper, salt, and Worcestershire sauce.
  2. Heat corn in warm water, then drain well.
  3. Place lettuce into serving dish.
  4. Place corn over the lettuce.
  5. Add shredded cheese on top of the corn.
  6. Top with beef.
  7. Cover everything with crushed potato chips.
  8. Pour tartar sauce all over the dish, and enjoy.

Notes

This recipe is similar to KFC bowls. You can eliminate beef, or replace it with chicken, bacon, pork, sausage, hot dog, and others. You can also mix tartar sauce with ketchup and/or mustard.
