Ingredients
- Ice cubes
- 1 cup brewed black coffee
- Freshly-squeezed lemon juice
- Sugar or other sweetener
- 1 lemon slice or wedge (optional)
Directions
- Fill a tall, narrow glass with the ice cubes.
- Pour the coffee over the ice.
- Add the lemon juice and sugar to taste.
- Add the lemon slice or wedge as a final touch if desired.
Notes
In some recipes, a sugar syrup is poured into the glass first, then a mixture of water and lemon juice is gently and carefully added afterwards so that the two ingredients don't mix. Ice cubes and black coffee are added later with a sprinkle of lemon zest.
Some European variations suggest adding rum.
